The Case of the October War
Dr Philipp O. Amour had the privilege to be invited to contribute a chapter for a recently published book on the October War of 1973 – also known as the Yom Kippur War, and the Ramadan War. The collection was edited by Dr Asaf Siniver, and published in Fall 2013 by Oxford University Press in the US (The Yom Kippur War: Politics, Legacy, Diplomacy) and by Hurst & Co. in the UK (The October 1973 War: Politics, Diplomacy, Legacy).
With 14 contributing authors, the greatest gift of the book is the authoritative analysis, and the comprehensive coverage of not just the main rival parties (Israel, Egypt, Syria), but also domestic and international key players (e.g. Jordan, PLO, USA, Soviet Union, Europe) which shaped regional and international developments. The book was well received and acknowledged as a must-have resource on the 1973 October War, and on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
